What is Beef Tallow?

Beef tallow is rendered beef fat. Slowly melted down and strained, it keeps for months and works two ways: as a cooking fat with a smoke point around 400 degrees, and as a skincare ingredient your great-grandmother would recognize. Before seed oils took over the kitchen and synthetic creams took over the bathroom shelf, tallow did both jobs.

Tallow is fat, and fat is where an animal's diet shows up. Our cattle graze on pasture from start to finish. No grain finishing, no feedlots, ever. Grass-fed tallow naturally contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, and its fatty acid profile is close to the oils your own skin produces.

What is beef tallow?

Beef tallow is rendered beef fat. It's shelf-stable, has a high smoke point for cooking, and has been used in skincare for generations. Ours is rendered from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished cattle.

Is grass-fed tallow better?

The fat reflects the animal's diet. Grass-fed tallow naturally contains fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Our herd grazes Florida pasture from start to finish, with no hormones, antibiotics, or GMOs.

Is tallow good for your skin?

Tallow's fatty acid profile is similar to the oils your skin makes naturally, which is why it absorbs well and moisturizes without a long ingredient list. Many of our customers use it on dry skin, elbows, and heels.

Will tallow skincare smell like beef?

No. Properly rendered tallow has almost no scent. Our body butters and soaps are scented with simple ingredients like lavender, lemon balm, calendula, and peppermint, and we offer unscented options too.

Can I cook with the same tallow I put on my skin?

Our pure beef tallow is made for the kitchen. The skincare line is whipped and blended with other skin-friendly ingredients, so keep that one on the shelf, not the stove.

Great flavor!

I’ve been buying 1/4 shares for almost a year now and my go to options near Tampa are sold out for the rest of this year. I don’t remember how I heard about Clover Farms, but I’m glad I did! Ground beef flavor is what I’m used to now, not at all like super market beef.
